Environmental efforts are a strong focus for Domsjö Fiber as well as our parent companies, Domsjö Fabriker and Övik Energi. Domsjö Fiber is committed to the local community and strives to maximize the use of locally sourced raw materials. Local sourcing reduces transport distances and thus environmental impact, while also supporting forest owners in our own region.
An environmentally conscious energy group contributing to long-term sustainable societal development in Örnsköldsvik through targeted and systematic improvement efforts. The goal is to optimize production, and new solutions are continuously tested to reduce the climate footprint.
The combined heat and power plant is fueled with biofuel from the local market, which is both economically and environmentally conscious, while also creating jobs in the local community.
In 2025, Övik Energi will become climate-neutral in its own operations, and the company is also working towards delivering 100% renewable energy to its customers.
Domsjö Fabriker is a biorefinery that continuously works to reduce its own environmental impact. The company has also placed a strong focus on energy efficiency, with great success—reviewing its transportation logistics and striving to become entirely independent of fossil fuels.
The industrial site has a well-developed infrastructure, and Domsjö collaborates with other companies on energy matters, with electricity, fuel, steam, and condensate being traded between the companies.
The production of cellulose is carried out 99 percent without the use of fossil fuels, and the bleaching process is entirely free from chlorine chemicals. Their products are based on renewable and environmentally friendly raw materials and can replace fossil-based products, particularly in the textile and chemical industries, thereby contributing to a stronger bioeconomy.
Domsjö Fiber is chain of custody certified according to the international standards FSC© and PEFC, enabling us to meet our owners’ customers’ demands for certified products.
