Övik Energi is the local full-service provider of sustainable energy and communications, playing a key role in promoting long-term sustainable development in Örnsköldsvik. The company offers electricity contracts, power distribution, district heating, district cooling, fiber networks, process steam, and energy services.
The energy group consists of Övik Energi AB that is 100% owned by the municipality of Örnsköldsvik, and Övik Energi Nät that is a fully owned daughter company to Övik Energi AB.
Övik Energi’s combined heat and power plant was commissioned in the summer of 2008 and produces approximately equal parts district heating, steam, and electricity. In its energy production, Övik Energi uses renewable by-products, primarily sourced from the region’s forest and pulp industries.
